Our curriculum is a flexible framework that has evolved from many years of experience and

knowledge that our staff brings to the classroom. We use The Creative Curriculum and PA Standards to provide a comprehensive developmental curriculum for Infants through children 12 years of age. Curriculum emerges as the children explore a variety of themes and topics and bring their experiences to the classroom. Scaffolding learning is evident from infancy through school age as the children are encouraged to investigate, create and develop ideas. Children ages 3 and up enjoy visitors and field trips that enhance our curriculum. Collaboratively our curriculum reflects our vision, mission, philosophy, and program goals.

Tiny Tots staff uses several curriculum tools and materials as sources for our program. The primary curriculum used is The Creative Curricula for Infants & Toddlers; for preschools; and for School-aged children. Several others are used to supplement it including:

  • Fireflies Curriculum…Preschools
  • Buttercups Curriculum …Toddlers
  • Learning Resource Units For Young Children
  • Growing Together…Early Childhood Education in Pennsylvania
  • I Am Amazing
  • Developmentally Appropriate Practice in Early Childhood Programs Serving Children From Birth Through Age 8

As part of our program we have written daily lesson plans of developmentally appropriate activities. Activities and materials that encourage creativity, freedom of choice, and that avoid sex role stereotyping are available throughout the day. For parents’ benefit, the lesson plans are available for you to see if not already posted.

At Tiny Tots Chilcare and Learning Center, we offer days packed full of activities. All of our activities help the social and academic development of children. Children learn best when they are having fun! We tailor our lessons to each child's unique learning style. U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission Recalls

The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has had numerous toy recalls this summer. Two types of recalls are of particular concern. Please check the toys you have available to the children in the center and also share this news with your parents.

Magnetic building sticks and action figures with magnetic parts have been identified as potential hazards for young children if swallowed.

Hazard: Small magnets inside the plastic sticks can fall out. Magnets found by young children can be swallowed or aspirated. If more than one magnet is swallowed, the magnets can attract each other and cause intestinal perforation or blockage, which can be fatal.

Many toys imported from China have been identified with excessive lead levels.

Hazard: Surface paints on the toys could contain lead levels in excess of federal standards. Lead is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effects.
